    1960 Lemans Poster by Thivillier original rare race version

    The 24 Hours of Le Mans posters traditionally featured the winning cars from the previous year, as they were printed before the race took place. In this poster, you can see the Ferraris that dominated the decade. There were two versions of this poster, each with different text at the bottom. The French government used one version for tourism promotion, while this version was created specifically for the race, making it the more desirable and rare edition. It remains in excellent condition.

    The 1960 24 Hours of Le Mans, held on June 25-26, marked Ferrari’s first overall victory at the race, beginning a decade of dominance. Olivier Gendebien and Paul Frère secured the win in a Ferrari 250 TR59/60 (#11), entered by Scuderia Ferrari. Their steady performance in difficult conditions ensured victory, covering 4,217 km (2,621 miles).

    This race also saw an effort by American team owner Briggs Cunningham, who entered three Corvettes. Though fast, they faced mechanical issues, with one managing to finish 8th overall. Heavy rain contributed to multiple crashes and retirements, further shaping the outcome. Aston Martin, the defending champion, struggled with reliability, leaving Ferrari and Porsche to battle early on before Ferrari took control. Another Ferrari 250 TR finished second, solidifying Ferrari’s growing dominance in endurance racing.

  • 24 heures du mans 1964

    Lemans 1964 poster by Thivillier 24 heures du Mans original rare

    $ 1,450

    Lemans 1964 poster by Thivillier 24 heures du Mans

    The 1964 24 Hours of Le Mans, held on June 20-21, continued the tradition of featuring the previous year’s winning cars on its promotional poster. The poster showcased the Ferrari 250 P, which secured victory in 1963. This practice of depicting the prior year’s winners was customary, as posters were printed before the current race results were known. The 1964 poster is considered rare and highly collectible.

    In the 1964 race, Ferrari maintained its dominance. The North American Racing Team (NART), a privateer team, achieved an overall win with drivers Jean Guichet and Nino Vaccarella piloting a Ferrari 275 P. This victory underscored Ferrari’s continued success at Le Mans during the early 1960s.

    The 1964 event was notable for intense competition between manufacturers, particularly Ferrari and Ford. Ford’s GT40 made its Le Mans debut, aiming to challenge Ferrari’s supremacy. However, mechanical issues plagued the GT40s, preventing them from finishing the race. Ferrari’s reliability and performance secured their position at the forefront of endurance racing during this period.

    The 1964 Le Mans poster, featuring the victorious Ferrari 250 P from the previous year, serves as a historical artifact reflecting Ferrari’s era of dominance and the competitive spirit of endurance racing in the 1960s.
