The image is of the bombing of the French Afrique port of Dakar at the beginning of the war when France fell to the Germans and the Vichy Government was working for the Germans. The Allies fearing that the port of Dakar in the hands of French Vichy would be used by the germans against them decided to attack and take the port. The operation was run by both the English and the free french under the supervision of Charles Degaulle. Rare and signed lithograph by one of France's best marine artists.
