"WWI War Bonds: Artistic Patriotism and Support for the Frontlines"

Description:
Discover a poignant chapter in history with Poster France's extensive collection of WWI War Bonds posters. During the First World War, advertising campaigns played a crucial role in rallying support from the public through the sale of war bonds. Many artists, including those who enlisted to fight, offered their talents to create these powerful posters for the war effort. These War Bonds, or "Emprunts" as they were known in France, were issued by various banks, including those from France, the UK, and Italian banks located in France. Notable artists, both renowned poster artists and fine artists, lent their creativity to these campaigns, leaving an enduring legacy.

Artists at the Frontlines: Many artists who served on the frontlines also contributed their artistic skills to inspire patriotism and raise funds for the war effort.

From Banks to Battlefields: The war bonds issued by various banks became a symbol of financial support for the troops and the war.

A Tapestry of Artistry: Our collection showcases a rich tapestry of artistic contributions, spanning both poster artists and fine artists, each offering their unique vision of patriotism and sacrifice.

Beyond the Call of Duty: These posters serve as a testament to the extraordinary measures taken during times of crisis, where art became a powerful tool for unity and support.

Here above are 3 of the most famous people in the world during World War I, Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford and Charley Chaplin doing their part supporting the War bonds effort. War bonds known as Emprunts in France were vital to supporting the effort to help the troupes so all the most famous artists of the period contributed their artwork for posters for free. Paper was scarce so a lesser quality paper was available. Most of the posters used only black ink to save. We have many of the most famous posters from this period.
